Carbon Footprinting and Reporting for Organisations

Training module detailed outline

Policymakers worldwide have set goals and incentives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. An increasing number of organisations, of all sizes and sectors, are placing a focus on Carbon Accounting, Carbon Management and Carbon Reporting. This course gives the complete business case for carbon management and enables companies to prepare themselves as the global business community moves towards a low carbon economy.

The course provides an introduction to climate change, carbon footprinting (GHG Accounting), carbon management and energy management, carbon reporting and carbon reduction. It presents an overview of different methodologies (e.g. the Greenhouse Gas Protocol) to identify, quantify and account and report GHG emissions and plan actions to reduce these. The course materials are based on the WRI/WBCSD GHG Protocol Corporate Standard, while referring to the ISO 14064: Part 1 international standard for GHG inventories. The course is suitable for anyone wishing to learn about climate risk and carbon management and ways to measure, monitor, report and reduce their contribution to it. Typical attendees include owners and directors, sustainability managers, facilities managers, financial managers and environmental managers. For example, a client says he wants his company to be “carbon neutral” or to reach “net-zero” and you are asked to help them understand their carbon footprint. This course will enable you to intelligently address the issues necessary to assess this organization’s GHG emissions.
